Comic Strips of the 1940s

I have a record of a strip titled Bo, which ran from about 1940 to the middle '50s. The cartoonist's name was Frank H. Beck, but I don't have info on who syndicated it or what the circulation might have been. Maybe that's the one you're talking about. Or maybe not -- all I have are those two names.

Frank H. Beck also did strips like Gas Buggies, All in a LIfetime, Hem & Amy, and Down the Road, from the early 1920s to the early '60s. Some of them, at least, were distributed by Metropolitan Syndicate or McFarland Syndicate, neither of which I know much about.

I emphasize that I don't know for sure that this is the Bo you're asking about. As I'm sure you've figured out from this site, the newspaper comics field is too vast for anyone to know in detail (tho historians like Alan Holtz, who runs a blog titled Stripper's Guide, make a stab at it). At least, I found this mentioned in a book. (But then, I keep kind of a specialized reference shelf.)

As for Secret Agent X-9 -- I never read it during the Mel Graff run. In fact, I mostly know the storylines through a book reprinting Alex Raymond's work and the late reprints in Comics Revue, when Archie Goodwin and George Evans were doing it. Sorry I can't help, but maybe someone else can.
